Ashtanga Beginners Practice (DVD)
By teaching at a controlled pace and carefully linking the breath to the movements, this Ashtanga yoga session is unusually do-able (it's like your breath is moving your body). An experienced, girl-next-door instructor, Nicki Doane, gently cues exactly what to do and where to focus your attention to create effort without tension, relaxation without dullness.
Note: this is authentic, eastern-style yoga with a definite mind-body emphasis. It includes a few "om" chants and Nicki uses both the original Sanskrit and ordinary English terminology (e.g. Suryanamaskar for Sun Salutations). Quiet music, great photography and an exquisite Hawaiian coastline setting.
Workout Level: Beginner/Intermediate. This workout should be right for you if you exercise a bit or are active, but not a regular exerciser.
